Cathy helped place this editorial for the Izaak Walton League of America in the Capitol Journal of South Dakota. According to the Izaak Walton League, the 2013 Farm Bill must balance two common-sense conservation principles: sod-saver program and making conservation compliance a condition of receiving federal crop insurance premium subsidies.

Kinetic Sculpture Unveiled at Union Depot of St. Paul


Connecticut artist Tim Prentice installed his kinetic sculpture Side Track, which he calls a “railroad track, not for the train, but for the eye,” at Union Depot in St. Paul. The installation of the permanent sculpture was covered by MinnPost, KSTP, the St. Paul Pioneer Press, and the Star Tribune online. This installation is part of the $1.25 million public arts program at Union Depot in St. Paul.

Farmers, Fishermen Trade Places to Learn About Conservation


Farmers and fishermen will walk in each others shoes this summer as part of the Theordore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership’s Barnyard to Boatyard Conservation Exchange. Cathy and her team are publicizing this first-of-its-kind exchange in which South Dakota farmers will spend three days learning about Louisiana Gulf fishing and water quality. Then Louisiana fishermen will travel to South Dakota to get a first-hand understanding of farming and ranching in the nation’s breadbasket.

New Solar Energy Standard to Create Clean-Energy Jobs in MN


Minnesota now has a new solar energy standard of 1.5 percent, thanks to the efforts of the MN Clean Energy & Jobs Coalition. The solar standard for investor-owned utilities is to be reached by 2020, with a goal of 10 percent by 2030. Working with Fourth Sector Consulting, Cathy concentrated on statewide media outreach and editorial board meetings to help the coalition pass this “first step forward in answering the Governor’s call to establish a cleaner, more sustainable energy future.”

Union Depot Unveils Union Table


Cathy’s client, the newly-restored Union Depot, known as the “Living Room of St. Paul,” was host to the all-night NorthernLights celebration in 2013. The public art event focused in and around the Union Depot, and included the unveiling of the Union Table, an artistic, sculptural, musical and participatory take on a pingpong table, designed and created by Twin Cities artists Noah Keesecker, Andrew MacGuffie, and Peter Haakon Thompson. Union Table is part of a $1.5 million public arts initiative at Union Depot.

Sioux Falls talks clean energy


Cathy’s work for Minnesota Environmental Partnership has made its way to South Dakota as both KDLT and KSFY TV news programs featured the new wind turbines currently being constructed in SW Minnesota. These turbines, which will make up the tallest wind farm in the state, will become Minnesota’s latest investment in wind energy, creating clean energy jobs for Minnesota’s economy.

CKC client, J. Becher & Associates Inc., landed media attention as it expanded with biometric security technology. The story appears in the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal, describing high tech security tools, which scan faces and analyze voices and movement in order to grant entrance to buildings and homes.

Cathryn celebrates CKC’s ten-year anniversary


Did you know that Minnesota Environmental Partnership became CKC’s first client back in 2002?  So much has happened since then! Among the highlights are the Tiffany store opening in 2004, the beginning of a partnership with Mortenson Construction in 2006, and in 2011, Mayo Clinic became a new client.

As CKC continues to grow, Cathryn looks forward to celebrating many more years of business!
